Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the largest theme park in the world, covering 580 acres. It opened on Earth Day, April 22, 1998. With it’s dedication to animal conservation and maintaining natural habitats, Animal Kingdom is also an accredited zoo, boasting a successful breeding program. Upon entering the park, guests are greeted with the sight of the beautiful Tree of Life. Standing 145 feet tall and 50 feet wide, this artificial baob tree also contains 325 animals carved into it’s trunk. The park is divided into six themed areas, all of which focus on animals and cultures native to it’s theme. They include the Oasis, Discovery Island, Africa, Rafiki’s Planet Watch, Asia, and DinoLand USA.
Ticket prices for one-day admission varies by day and theme park. Two-day tickets start at $99.50 per day, per ticket for guests aged 10 and up, before tax. Of course, Disney World offers many different packages that can save guests money, and usually, the more days you go, the less money per day you’ll spend on admission.
Animal Kingdom offers many attractions to please the whole family. Some of the more popular are Primeval Whirl, Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur, Boneyard Playground, It’s Tough to Be a Bug, Maharajah Jungle Trek, Tree of Life, Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and the Festival of the Lion King.
